Introduction of USTB

University of Science and Technology Beijing was founded in 1952 and has developed into one of the most influential key national universities in China. Its main focus is on engineering, while maintaining a balanced program consisting of science, management, humanities, economics and law.

USTB is part of the 211 Project, which is designed to develop a hundred first rate universities in the 21st century. In 2006, USTB was selected as the “Platform for National Advanced Disciplines Innovation” program. In 2014, the “Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology”, led by USTB and Northeastern University, was chosen to be part of the national “2011 Plan”. In 2017, USTB was selected as one of universities and colleges for the “Double-First Class” initiative, which aims to ultimately build a number of world-class universities and disciplines.

University of Science and Technology Beijing engages in a number of international cooperative partnerships and initiatives to provide its students and scholars opportunities to expand their horizons. As the first Chinese university to establish a formal partnership with a foreign university in 1979, USTB continues to innovate in expanding its global network and opening new programs to better serve its community.

Introduction of Foundation Program

University of Science and Technology Beijing offers undergraduate preparatory education for international students. International students meet the admission requirements of University of Science and Technology  Beijing for undergraduates through one academic year of study.

The curriculum in the preparatory stage mainly includes language, culture, professional knowledge and language practice related courses. It will adopt the enhanced education method, adhere to the combination of language teaching and professional knowledge teaching, and focus on language teaching, supplemented by professional knowledge teaching. Through the study in the preparatory stage, international students will have certain Chinese communication ability and cross-cultural communication ability, and the Chinese language level will reach HSK4 or above, Have certain professional basic knowledge.

Graduation requirements

1. Achieve HSK4 and above Chinese level.

2. Pass the examinations of all courses in the preparatory stage.

1. Free HSK examination.

2. Organize 1-2 cultural visits every semester to improve understanding of China.

3. Carry out lectures on characteristic disciplines to closely perceive key disciplines of University of Science and Technology Beijing.

4. Provide guidance lectures on major selection, on campus activities, undergraduate enrollment, etc. to help international students enter the undergraduate stage smoothly.

5.Students with excellent performance during the study period will be eligible for the first selection of undergraduate scholarship.

Application qualification

1. Non Chinese citizens in good health.

2. The passport is valid for more than one year.

3. Senior high school graduate or above or equivalent.

4. The age shall not exceed 34 years.

1. Passport (ordinary passport), valid for more than one year.

2. Graduation certificate and transcript of senior high school and above.

3. Health examination certificate.

4. Letter of Economic Guarantee.

5. Certificate of no criminal record.

6. Photos of personal white background certificates.

7. Other materials (such as Chinese proficiency certificate, award certificate, etc.),can be provided.

Note: If you are under the age of 18, you need to provide the certificate of guardian in Beijing and other relevant materials.

November 1 to June 30 of the next year.

September to July of the next year.
