Doctoral Degree：4 years

Elementary Chinese course: 1 year (Applicants who apply for Chinese-medium programs are required to take elementary Chinese course, if their Chinese is not qualified.)

Criteria & Eligibility

1, Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2, Education background and age limit:

Applicants for master degree must have bachelor degree and be under the age of 35.

Applicants for doctoral degree must have master degree and be under the age of 40.

3, Requirements of Language (Compulsory)

Chinese-Medium Programs: HSK4 (or above level).

English-Medium Programs (for applicants from Non-English Speaking Countries): IELTS 6 / TOEFL 80 / Official English Proficiency Certificate

1, Apply online.

2, Submit all documents to International Student Center, USTB.

Remark: Application documents and fee will not be returned.

Application Materials

Two copies of application documents are required, one Original of Notarized and one Duplicate.

1, Application Form of Chinese Government Scholarship. (www.campuschina.org)

2, Apply online and pay application fee (CNY600), then print. (onlineapply.ustb.edu.cn)

3, Degree Certificates in Chinese or English (Bachelor and Master).

Remark: Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date, then submit the degree certificate later if admitted.

4, Transcripts in Chinese or English (Bachelor and Master) up to the present, including courses taken and standard achieved.

5, A Personal Statement in Chinese or English, above 800 words for master, and above 1500 words for doctorate. 《研究生申请个人陈述模板Statement of USTB Master,Phd Application》

6, Two Recommendation Letters, including contacts, must be the Original in Chinese or English.

The referees should be professors or associate professors. At least one of them should have knowledge of your recent academic work.

7, Requirements of Language.

Chinese-Medium Programs: HSK5 for Master, HSK6 for Doctorate (if applicants provide HSK4, they shall study 1 year Elementary Chinese course.)

English-Medium Programs (for applicants from Non-English Speaking Countries): IELTS 6 / TOEFL 80 / Official English Proficiency Certificate

8, Photocopy of Passport (Ordinary Passport).

11, Table of contents and abstracts of your academic publications and any other original achievement in your field. (Optional)

Admission Result

International student center will declare the result of successful candidates on the website at the end of June, then send out admission letters in July. Please fulfill the application form with detailed mail address and postal code or other receiving methods.
