On June 13, the “Bridge of the Future” China-U.S. Youth Roundtable was held on campus. The Chairman and Executive Chairman of the All-China Students’ Federation, heads of student unions (graduate student unions) and student associations from some universities in Beijing, and 47 American young people and university student representatives who came to China to participate in the “Bridge of the Future” China-U.S. Youth Exchange Program took part in the exchange event.

During the event, Chinese and American youth representatives exchanged and discussed topics such as student organization development, serving students’ growth, volunteer service, and enriching campus culture. Xu Hui, Chairman of the All-China Students’ Federation and a doctoral student in the Department of Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering at Tsinghua University, introduced the basic situation of the All-China Students’ Federation and expressed the hope to fully exchange and learn from each other with the visiting American youth and students, contributing youth strength to the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations. Wang Yidong, Executive Chairman of the Student Union of Renmin University of China and an undergraduate in the School of Statistics, started with three short stories and introduced the Student Union’s experience and insights in carrying out targeted service projects focusing on students’ needs in academic progress, social integration, physical and mental health, and quality development. Li Xuanzhi, Executive Chairman of the Graduate Student Union of Beijing Normal University and a master’s student in Basic Principles of Marxism, used “practice” and “change” as keywords to share the Graduate Student Union’s experience in organizing students to carry out social practice activities such as rural revitalization, public welfare teaching support, and community service across the country. Xie Linli from the Volunteer Service Guidance Center of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, through vivid cases of “Western Plan” assistance, vividly interpreted the service original intention of Chinese young volunteers to “use a not-long year to do something unforgettable for a lifetime.” Zhang Jingxian, President of the Fenglei Street Dance Club of Peking University, shared the club’s efforts and achievements in enriching campus cultural life, promoting students’ all-round development, and communicating Chinese and Western cultures. His wonderful speech drew rounds of applause from American friends.

During the free exchange session, Chinese and American youth representatives spoke enthusiastically and interacted actively. Even after the event ended, some American students were still reluctant to leave and continued to exchange experiences and insights on student work with the Chinese representatives.

During the event, the Secretariat of the All-China Students’ Federation presented the English edition of Xi Jinping and His College Friends to visiting young American delegates.
